CSA Cultural exploration visit in Mozambique
The Executive Director for the Creative Seychelles Agency, Mr Emmanuel d’OFFAY and Ms Najoie Philoé, Senior Liaison recently was on a Cultural exploration visit in Mozambique sector from the 22nd -28th September 2024, following an invitation by the National Institute for Cultural Creative Industries of the Ministry for Culture and Tourism of Mozambique.
The objective was to identify cultural meetings ground whereby artists from both countries can will have a platform to show their products or artworks, in addition to find potential partners within the creative industry of Mozambique for discussion on future cooperation.
The seven day itinerary started with a courtesy meeting with H.E Eldevina MATERULA, minister for Culture and Tourism of Mozambique in the presence of the senior officers from the Culture section.
The delegation attended visits and meetings at the following cultural institutions, sections or structures for discussion; National Art Museum, Makonde Art cooperative “ Nucleo d’Arte” association for visual artists, F.L. Couto Foundation, Cultural space “ SABURA” for artist Manuela SOEIRO, Vulcano Gallery, CRIAMOZ Cooperative and workshop of the Karingana textile brand, visual art artist Simione, the Vulcano gallery, x-hub incubator, Dhow, Ricardo Rangel Photographic Documentation Center, National School of Visual Arts and School of dance, Malangatana residence, Reinata Sadimba, Kulungwana, Mafalala Museum, FEIMA craft market, Matola artist association, National Song and Dance Company, SOMAS, Art Center, Ameeciaciò Raizes.
To conclude this mission a technical meeting was held with the senior officers of the ministry on the last day. The discussion was about the possibility for cooperation through our respective ministry base on what has been comprehended. As well as on varies programme that can be implemented through the Indian Ocean Commission grant that are made available for the 5 members countries; (Mauritius, Madagascar, La Reunion, Seychelles, Mozambique and Comores). Most importantly, the identification of potential partners both in Seychelles and in Mozambique to present application for projects or work collaboration.
A draft road map will be proposed to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Mozambique by the Seychelles Culture Institute on the way forward for cooperation in all cultural field.
